All-Electronic Tolling on the PA Turnpike

As part of an ongoing effort to modernize, The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) is implementing All-Electronic Tolling (AET) through a series of projects that are being phased in over several years. The goal is to evaluate this system in different markets with unique characteristics, including overall traffic volume, E-ZPass usage and level of out-of-state traffic. Please select a cashless project on the map to learn more.

Nationally and globally, AET or cashless tolling brought enhanced access and ease of travel to customers. Other agencies that have selected cashless tolling systems found that safety at toll plazas improved for motorists who no longer have to change lanes in these compressed areas. Check out the National Trends page for a snapshot of what’s happening around the country.
